Southwest Austin Democrats

Future Elections - SWAD has identified 18 of 49 precincts located in southwest Austin to be targeted specifically for general election races. By concentrating on a handful of precincts, we'll be capable of performing and managing our task more efficiently and successfully. As a united group, we can have a major impact on the election of Democrats. Remember, our efforts will be twofold: electing more Democratic candidates in southwest Austin and helping to elect other Democrats in the county and state.

The following are the ID'd precincts - 301, 302, 303, 304, 339, 340, 341, 350-vacant, 351-vacant, 352, 354, 357, 358, 360-vacant, 362, 363, 366, 367. We will be working toward filling the three vacant chair positions.

The regular monthly meeting of the Southwest Austin Democrats is held on the fourth Thursday of each month. The meetings are usually held at the Will Hampton branch of the Austin Public Library at 5125 Convict Hill Road in Southwest Austin. For October 2008, however, the meeting will be held at the Travis County West Rural Community Center, 8656 West Hwy 71, Building A(about a mile and a quarter past the Y at Oak Hill). The meetings are called to order at 6:45 PM.

The Southwest Austin Democrats (SWAD) organization was created in December 2004. Our mission is to organize, cultivate, and increase the Democratic Party presence in Southwest Austin. But we need help from the SW Austin precinct chairs and activists to meet these objectives. As the Clintons would say "its take a village." As a united Southwest Austin group, we can succeed in our efforts to elect more Democrats to state and local offices and to give notice once again that Southwest Travis County is not a Republican stronghold.
